Nokia X302 Appears to be a Great Formula of a Touch Screen Phone

I have always been a bit of skeptical when it comes to Nokia producing touch screen smart phones until I recently saw and previewed the video of

Nokia X302

. It is really amazing that Nokia has finally found its formula of making touch screen phone but the interesting fact about this phone is no Symbian OS is found in its core operating system.

Design

Presented in a fully elegant and great looking design,

Nokia x302

is really one of Nokia’s army that is really genius, on both design and features. It has every major thing that smart phone should have. It works tremendously well on every aspect. Great and responsive resistive touch screen, sophisticated design, provided WiFi and 3G connections, and whole lot more. Nokia X302 should be the best example and core formula for Nokia to bring the next touch screen smart phones in the future.

Nokia X302

Announced in August 2010 and released in September, Nokia introduced Nokia X302 to the market in the hope for entering a high-end touch screen competition, that had been taken charge by iPhone and Android based smart phones, while new RIM's Blackberry Bold are now starting to get its recognition in the competition.

Interface and Functionality

If we look closely at the whole design and body of Nokia X302, there is some major changes on this phone, especially on the layout of buttons. The keypad that Nokia usually uses on its products has always been a "4 rows and 3 lines" standard keypad, where 1 – 9 is on the first 3 rows and 1 last row is for the hash, star and 0 buttons.

Well apparently, Nokia really does a great job of changing the layout of its keypad where now, Nokia X302 will still have 4 rows, but add 1 extra line for the hash, star, and 0 buttons on the right. By decreasing the use of area for the keypad, it elevates and modernizes the design of this phone even better than before. So it is absolutely great sign for Nokia. Dedicated music key has also been added on top position amongst Phone call (green), Phone end (red) and messaging buttons.

Displayed in a resistive touchscreen, 256K colors, Nokia X302 screen looks solid and shinny in our eyes. With the screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, Nokia X302 may not be a major competitor for iPhone, but the touch screen is really responsive, although it is not as responsive as capacitive touch screen. Screen doesn’t look really great when viewing angle is skewed, especially when you use this phone in outdoor area. So the use of this phone is limited around the indoor area, especially in the day light period.

Screen Quality

Many users of this phone have experienced that the touchscreen on this phone has a problem especially when the screen card is removed by the users. The screen card, which covers the main screen to protect it from hand scratches or finger prints, is removed by the users because it doesn’t stick well to the screen and it comes off easily. But I believe this problem shouldn’t be exaggerated while the other phones also have weakness on the screen cover.

Features

Now let’s move on the feature aspect. Nokia X302 features some standard functionality, such as Bluetooth, USB v2.1, FM stereo radio, Games, Flash Lite v3.0 and many more.

Conectivity

Internet connection has also become the best aspect you will get when buying this phone. With the support of 3G HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps network and WiFI 802.11 connection, it should be a convenient to enter the World Wide Web every time you are at home or on the go at the hotspot area.

Camera

Taking your special moment can be so perfect with the help of high quality 5 MP camera that can produce as good as 2592 x 1944 pixels photos and VGA@15fps on video recording.

Multimedia and Entertainment

There is no void in multimedia and entertainment area in Nokia X302. This phone can play video files across the formats XviD/MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV and it can also run music files across MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ formats, where loudspeaker is of course provided on this phone.

Battery Life

Considering that this phone is built as a multimedia phone, its battery life should be the first thing for you to consider since we know that Nokia’s battery depreciates pretty faster if it’s charged without a cautious. But Nokia states that Nokia X302’s Li-Ion 860 mAh (BL-4S) battery can last up to 408 hours in stand by mode, 5 hours 20 minutes in talk time, and up to 28 hours in music play.

Phone Accessories

Nokia X302 is sold in 5 different case covers: White Silver, Dark Metal, Petrol Blue, Pink, Lilac. I think Dark Metal is the best one where it is used as a main model of this phone, while White Silver is also great.

Conclusion

As I said earlier, I've always been skeptic when seeing Nokia release touch screen smart phone to the market, but honestly, this phone really blows me away on the first sight. Nokia's craft of creating cell phone is shown clearly with the design of this phone, which will surely get its own identity as elegant touch screen phone.

Bottom line, Nokia X203 should be your next destination next time you want to buy a new cell phone, especially if you are a big fan of Nokia's products.
