Sony Ericsson W595i: Another Great Quality Walkman Series

Couple of months ago, I’ve already made my personal review of Sony Ericsson Walkman series, W910i.

I found Sony Ericsson W910i really great in all aspects, from the design, the features, the screen, the camera, the gaming compatibility, and so on. I stand firm to say that this phone is a really solid built cell phone from the manufacture itself, Sony Ericsson. Right now, I'm about to give and introduce you with the next phone that looks just like W910i, and it’s called Sony Ericsson Sony Ericsson W595i

.

Design

Just like I said, Sony Ericsson W595i really looks just like W910i. In fact, this phone looks just the same with Sony Ericsson W910i, especially with the body design of both phones. The D-Pad of Sony Ericsson W595i and W910i also look similar one to another. These 2 phones also have the same bottom sliding mechanism to open the keypad. So basically, Sony Ericsson W595i runs in the same framework design with W910i.

But there 3 main things that make them different, the gaming dedicated keys and the upper body. On W910i, the upper body of this phone doesn’t have a rounded shape, while on Sony Ericsson W595i, the upper and bottom position have been design in rounded shape.

The 2 extra gaming dedicated keys can be found only on W910i, while on Sony Ericsson W595i, there is no extra gaming key on the top of screen. I believe the reason why the manufacture removes these 2 dedicated gaming keys from Sony Ericsson W595i is because it is rare to find games with the support of landscape mode around the market. The last but not least, I also found no Walkman dedicated key and power button on the top of this phone, while W910 has it.

  • Bottomline
  • Bottom line, I am really sure that all of Walkman series that have specs 240x320 pixels, are all great. Sony Ericsson W595i is no exception. Offering top-notch sound quality, great design, strong battery life, wide screen and great gaming capability, this phone is absolutely a good choice at mid-end price range.

The overall design of this phone looks really sophisticated and clean, especially if you got this phone in white case covers. The D-Pad of this phone is really solid and strong on the center of front side. Besides as a normal direction pad, the D-Pad is also assigned by the manufacture to navigate the Walkman media player.

Again, I find that the D-Pad of its predecessor, W910i, is really strong to use and can be used in the long run. So I believe it goes the same with this phone, the D-Pad of this phone is also strong, even stronger, and can be operated in the long run without a problem.

Unlike its predecessor, each keypad button of this phone has a gap between one key to another key, giving an extra area for each button. This makes the keypad are convenient to press and use. Moreover each button is designed in rounded shape, so pressing the keypad can be so pleasing with this phone. This is so different with W910i, where all the keypad are designed in really flat surface and close distance between one button to another. So definitely, this phone has much much better keypad design than W910i.

Interface and Functionality

Talking about the screen of this phone, I believe that this phone has a really great screen interface. With the support to display TFT, 256K colors screen quality, this phone can give clean and bright interface to the users. The size of the screen also becomes the best thing from this phone.

With the size of 2.2 inches, the screen of this phone looks bigger and the most importantly, the accuracy of the screen is really great with the support of 240 x 320 pixels screen resolution. Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate has also been injected to the screen to do an auto rotate in landscape mode and normal mode, back and forth.

Phone Specification

Sony Ericsson W595i offers many standard features to the users, such as: 3G network, Bluetooth, USB, 3.2 MP primary camera and front side camera, video calling feature, Stereo FM radio and Picture editor.

Multimedia and Entertainment

Sony Ericsson W595i is the family member of Walkman series, so this phone is absolutely created by the manufacture as a music player cell phone. For instance, this phone has stereo loudspeaker and Walkman player.

Its predecessor, W910i can deliver such a great and clean sound quality, so I stand firm and believe that this phone will have much better sound quality than its predecessor. The other addition features for the music player, such as: TrackID music recognition, SensMe and Shake control have been injected to this phone.

Data Storage

Since I know that the users of this phone obviously need much bigger data storage to insert many media files in it, the 2GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) external memory is included to support the 40 MB internal memory. While on the upgrade, the 8GB external memory is also available to get at the phone shops.

Gaming Compatibility

Playing games with this phone is so convenient because with the support of java platform MIDP 2.0 version, all the games and applications across java platform can be run perfectly without a problem. So in implementation, many high quality java games such as: Need for Speed: Undercover, Shift and Hot Pursuit 3D can be played smoothly with this phone.

Battery Life

Based on my personal experience with W910i, when listening to music in the whole time, the battery life of this phone can only last up to 7 – 8 hours a day. So in implementation, i would say that the battery life of this phone can survive around 7 – 8 hours when listening music or playing games in the whole time.

Conclusion

Bottom line, I’ve already experienced that the predecessor, Sony Ericsson W910i is a really solid built cell phone with galore of high tech features. So I also believe that the next version, this phone will be much much better than the old version.

Sony Ericsson W595i is sold in variety of different case covers, from: Jungle Grey, Lava Black, Ruby Black, Cosmopolitan White, Active Blue, Peachy Pink and Sandy Gold.
