LG is back again to bring something that is believed to be different with the predecessors. And that is LG GD900. This time, a transparent keypad board is equipped to this phone. Okay, on this LG GD900 review, i want to uncover the whole aspect of LG GD900, including the design, the camera, the specs and the features of this phone.
LG GD900 Review - Design
At a glance, this cell phone is also called as “Crystal LG” that is designed as slider phone. However, when the slider is opened, a transparent keypad board will be presented to you, which is called as “Crystal Touchpad”.
To use this transparent keypad is by only touching the button with our fingers. And the interesting part from this keypad board is when accessing some certain feature on this phone, say, a browser, the keypad area will become a Touch Pad ala laptop that we normally use to operate or move the cursor.
The touchpad buttons can also be found 3 buttons on the bottom position of the screen (Call, Multitask, End Call). The glossy plastic material wraps up the entire body of this phone, while the back cover is dominated by transparent plastic material.

S-Class Screen
The wide screen of this phone, which is a touch screen, is injected with S-Class user interface from LG-owned UI that makes the display look animated attractive. The screen also looks really sharp. The inside of device is embedded with Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.
The screen also has Shortcut Gesture that allows users to open certain feature by swapping the fingers to draw some sort of object on the screen. Not to mention with the capability of handwriting recognition. Unfortunately, when using this phone on outdoor area under the sun light, the screen cannot be seen perfectly.
Interface and Functionality
There are 4 beginning screen display (Homescreen) that can be added with some shortcuts. The HomeScreen itself can be changed by only swapping the screen to the right or left. This Homescreen can also be changed into shape of cube by pressing the multitasking button.
Camera
The camera of this phone already has the resolution of 8 MP and has been supported with complete facility. The photo results on outdoor area look really sharp. However, the process of shooting until the finishing result when taking picture is considered slow.
When recording video with the frame rate speed of 30 fps, the resulted video has the resolution of 720x480 pixels with the 3GP format. GD900 is also provided with secondary camera with VGA quality on the top of screen, which besides for video calling, it can also be used to capture photos and record videos. There is also a feature called Movie Maker that allows users to make movies/videos by combining some of photos, which is also provided with some animation movement effects.
Multimedia and Entertainment
The entertainment feature on this phone is a Video Player that can be utilized to play DivX and Xvid videos. There is also a Music Player that is supported with Equalizer (Dolby for Mobile) and also Visualization (Music Player display). Not to mention FM Radio.
Connectivity
For internet browsing, GD900 has supported the HSDPA speed (up to 7.2 Mbps). The WiFi is certainly equipped on this phone. Unfortunately, the browser loading speed is pretty lame, maybe it’s because the page compression feature on this phone is not really good. The good thing is, this browser has a capability of multi touch, so zooming in or zooming out the web page can be done perfectly with pinching mode.
Gaming Compatibility
There are 9 games that are provided for this phone (Tepong, Wheel Mania, Flying Dice, Bubble Breeze, Mellow candle, Dart, Fishing, Homerun, Derby, and Golf Slope), which all of them can be played with accelerometer sensor feature on this phone. Some games can even be played by blowing this phone, such as: Bubble Mania and Mellow Candle.
Conclusion
Bottom line, the price of this phone can be considered expensive around the market. But, at least it’s worth it with the fancy design, sophistication and completeness of the features on this phone. Moreover, based on this LG GD900 review, this is a touch screen phone deploying many great and high quality features, such as: WiFi, Accelerometer sensor, 8MP camera and big data storage in internal memory (1.5GB).
