LG GW525 Review: Another Touch Screen Smart Phone at Affordable Price

In this

LG GW525 review, i am about to do some quick review of the features and other aspects of this phone. So read on.

LG GW525 has the QWERTY keyboard which is concealed inside the back body of device, which will appear if the back slider is opened to the left side.

When the QWERTY keyboard is slide, it also makes the screen display of this phone turn automatically from vertical mode into the landscape mode (accelerometer for auto-rotate function). On the other hand, if the QWERTY keyboard is concealed back to the normal position, this cell phone can only be operated with touch screen.

  • Pros
  • QWERTY keyboard is really functional and easy to press | It's cheap for smart phone | Auto-rotate on the screen
  • Cons
  • 40MB internal memory is too small for modern smart phone | The interface doesn't look really attractive | The color of QWERTY keyboard is too bright and doesn't look elegant | No specific Operating System
  • Bottomline
  • Bottom line, as a low-end touch screen phone, LG GW525 lacks every important element of a good smart phone. Compared to other touch screen phones at this price range, say, Xperia X8, then this phone doesn't offer anything special to users.

Interface and Functionality

The touch screen of LG GW525 is the resistive one, unfortunately the stylus is not provided for this phone. Whereas, most of resistive touch screen smart phones around the market are always equipped with stylus pen as an addition. So practically, this phone can only be used with the finger touch.

This cell phone adopts the beginning screen display ala LG which is called Live Square. This user interface appears in the form of avatar animation character from the users and also the opposite person when doing phone call or text messaging. Users can also shift to the normal screen display with the wallpaper, by sweeping the screen from left to the right side.

Camera

LG GW525 has 2 cameras with the resolution of 3.2 MP that are equipped with many facilities, from: Effects, White Balance, Night Mode, Digital Zoom and other stuff. The camera of this phone can also record 3GP video with the maximum resolution of 320x240 pixels. This phone is also injected with secondary camera which can be used for video call or taking photos.

Multimedia and Entertainment

The entertainment features of this phone have also been provided to the users, such as: Music Player, Video Player, Photo/Video Editor, FM Radio and also Games. While on internet connectivity aspect, LG GW525 has supported until HSDPA (with data speed of 7.2 Mbps). Not to mention with the additions of many favorite site links, such as: Facebook, Google Search, Google Mail, Blogger, YouTube and many more.

Document Viewers

And last but not least, to help users do the office job or presentation, some of Document viewers have been added to this phone (DOC, XLS, PPT and PDF). Unfortunately, they can only open the document without the capability to edit or create a new file.

Conclusion

Based on this LG GW525 review, I don't find anything special from this phone. I guess LG GW525 is only a cheap touch screen smart phone with QWERTY slider. That's it. The other let downs are the absences of WiFi connection which is a must, and also there is no specific operating system in this device, neither Android OS, Symbian OS, LG OS, or something.

That's why, I can only give the score "2" for this phone because one good thing from this device is only the QWERTY slider. If you want my advice, you better get an Android device from Sony Ericsson called Xperia X10 Mini Pro, which offers WiFi and also QWERTY slider too.

However, if you still want LG GW525, then check out this phone at Amazon where it's sold at low price for only $109.
