Sony Ericsson Spiro Review: One Simple Phone That Look Cheap but Offers Great Stuff

Sony Ericson Spiro is released to the market as a complete package of multimedia and music cell phone, since this phone is produced under the Walkman series.

Therefore, great sound quality, clear screen interface, and galore of awesome features will be the best things you can get from this phone. In the last article, I’ve already posted the full review of this phone in my Sony Ericsson Spiro review

The first thing I want to uncover in that Sony Ericsson Spiro review is the whole design of this phone. The design of Spiro has similarity with the design of other sliding cell phones from Sony Ericsson, say W910i or W595i. However, there is one thing that makes the design of Spiro different with the other sliding phones is the rounded shape on the Spiro looks fully rounded on every side, creating a cute impression on the outside.

The compatibility of this phone to run applications and games has also become the important element in my review. Running games or applications with Spiro is really pleasing, especially with the support of java platform MIDP 2.0 version. In the review, I’ve already tested some high quality games, Need for Speed: SHIFT 3D and Need for Speed: Undercover 3D, and the results were satisfying. These 2 games can be played perfectly and smoothly without any problem.

The important aspect of Spiro which have been uncovered in my review is the multimedia or music aspect. For your information, although Sony Ericsson doesn’t use the letter “W” on this phone (W indicates the Walkman series), Sony Ericsson is still produced under the Walkman series. It is shown by the Walkman logo on the bottom of the screen.

Last but not least, in my Sony Ericsson Spiro review, I’ve also dig deeper about the features that being offered in this phone. Sony Ericsson Spiro supports some basic elements of standard cell phones, such as:
  • 2G Network, despite it lacks of 3G connection, the provided 2G network is still reliable based on the operator network you’re on
  • Loudspeaker, the sound that comes out from the loudspeaker doesn’t deliver a really clean quality. Therefore, the use of standard earphone is pretty much important.
  • 3.5mm jack, listening music with the standard earphone can be pleasing with this phone, since the sound quality of this phone is good.
  • Bluetooth, sharing or receiving data in the nearest area can still be done with the support of standard Bluetooth
  • USB, transferring data or files to the PC or laptop can be done with the provided USB port
  • 2 MP Camera, some users experience that the quality of pictures taken with this phone are good
  • Stereo FM radio, although it’s rare to listen to radio using cell phone, this feature is still useful when you are on the go without nothing to do
  • MIDP 2.0, all the applications and games across java platform can be played perfectly with the support of java platform MIDP 2.0 version
  • Walkman 4.0 player, the previous version of Walkman media player, Walkman 3.0 can deliver such a great quality sound. So expect better with this latest version
  • Facebook and Twitter applications, now getting the updates from your friends or posting new status about you via Facebook and Twitter accounts can be so much easier with the support of quick access applications of these 2 giant social media sites
