Sony Ericsson W810i was released to the market as the next pocket cell phone that has the most advanced features and specifications than the older phones, say K700i or K750i.
Design
The reason why I conclude
Sony Ericsson W810i as the next generation of the K-series, K700i and K750i despite the fact that this phone is produced under Walkman series, is because as you can see at the whole design of Sony Ericsson W810i, this phone obviously runs in the same core design with those 2 K-series, in term of body design, size and also the screen resolution
. As you might notice or not, the screen of this phone has been produced in the same screen resolution with the other K-series, 176x220 pixels. The body design and the size of this phone also looks pretty similar with the other phones. As I mentioned earlier, although the size and screen resolution of them are pretty similar, apparently, this phone has the most advanced features and specifications than the older phones, in term of java platform that being utilized to operate this phone.

Gaming Compatibility
Although the version of java platform that being injected to Sony Ericsson W810i is similar with K700i and K750i, which is MIDP 2.0 version, in the real implementation, the java platform of this phone is far more powerful than the older phones. It’s proven by how this phone has much better capability to run some java applications that apparently cannot be operated in the older phones.
For an instance is java game. For your information, some high quality java games, say, Blade and Magic 3D cannot be played on either K700i or K750i. But surprisingly can be played perfectly without a problem on Sony Ericsson W810i. So that’s the reason why I infer that this phone has much much better hardware than the older predecessors.
Walkman Dedicated D-Pad
The thing that makes this phone different with the other K-series is the D-Pad. As you might know or not, the D-pad on K700i or K750i is really weak and will come off easily in the long period of usage. But luckily, this manufacture is well aware of this weakness and made it up on Sony Ericsson W810i.
Indeed, the D-pad of this phone has been built in really solid and strong circle shape on the front side of device. This D-Pad has also been assigned by the manufacture as Walkman dedicated keys that allow users to navigate the Walkman media player, which becomes the pride and the trademark of this series.
2MP Camera
On the back side of device, the 2MP camera and the LED flash are deployed on the top area. I believe these 2 elements are the highlight on the back side, besides the eye catchy loudspeaker holes.
Interface and Functionality
The interface of this phone has the standard interface that used to be the standard theme that I normally see on any Walkman series cell phone. Orange color becomes the main color and the highlight in the whole side of screen, especially when using the standard Walkman theme. The interface looks colorful and bright, especially with the support of TFT, 256K colors and 176x220 pixels screen resolution.
Phone Specification
Sony Ericsson W810i comes with many awesome features, such as: Bluetooth, Infrared port, USB, 2 MP primary camera that supports autofocus and LED flash, Stereo FM radio, Loudspeaker, Video player, Picture editor and SyncML.
Multimedia and Entertainment
Listening to music with this phone becomes the best thing you will definitely get from this phone. That’s because besides the sound quality of this phone is no doubt great, as a pocket cell phone, Sony Ericsson W810i has supported MP3/AAC/MP4 media formats. I have experienced on the old K750i that the sound quality of that phone was great and clear in our ears, so you should expect much much better quality with this phone.
Data Storage
Just like any of pocket cell phone from this manufacture, this phone has been equipped with 512 MB Memory Stick Duo Pro external memory if you feel that the 20 MB internal memory is not enough to keep all of your media files alive in your phone. The external memory up to 4GB is also available at any phone shop.
Battery Life
Sony Ericsson is well known to have a great battery department in its company. So I believe that the battery life of this phone is powerful and long lasting. In fact, in heavy usage, the battery could last much longer. For example, in full charge, if you play java games or surfing internet, this phone would last around 5- 8 hours in one day. And listening music with this phone is such a long journey experience because it could last around 8 - 9 hours in heavy usage.
Conclusion
Since getting various results from the users of K700i and K750i, Sony Ericsson knows really well that D-Pad is one of many aspects that makes these 2 phones failed in the real implementation. Its D-Pad is really loose and comes off easily from the core position when being used in the long period. Therefore, this manufacture decides to make it up to the users by releasing this phone to the market.
The result was fantastic. Many users of Sony Ericsson W810i feel satisfied with the whole aspect of this phone, especially with the stronger D-Pad.
Bottom line, Sony Ericsson W810i is rolled out to the market as the most advanced java-based pocket cell phone. With the whole quality that being offered on this phone, I definitely recommend this phone if you’re planning to get pocket cell phone in the low price range.
