Although the Windows mobile OS is not very popular around the mobile market, especially with the fierce competition between iOS and Android markets, apparently, Sony Ericsson still has an interest, or maybe curiosity to bring Windows experience to one of its creations, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Okay, in this Xperia X1 Review, let me show you some of coolest things that you can get from this awesome gadget.
Xperia X1 Review - Design
If you look closer to this phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 looks really fancy and sophisticated. With the metal frame body design on the whole side, this phone is really beautifully crafted device. Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 feels pretty heavy in my palm (with the weight of 145 g), although it’s not too heavy compared to similar devices. Fortunately, with the elegant metal design and galore of high technology features that being provided in this phone, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 doesn’t suck at all.

The QWERTY keyboard
Even though the touch screen will operate most of the activity around the phone, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will be also provided with Full QWERTY keyboard on the side sliding along with the standard keyboard buttons (e.g., space, enter, backspace, number 0 – 9, etc).
I believe that the QWERTY keyboard of this phone is the best QWERTY keyboard we’ve ever used so far. Although the keys around the keyboard are pretty contiguous one to another, it’s still easy to use and to type on. The great thing about this QWERTY keyboard is the keys are pretty functional.
The Optical Trackpad
On the front side below the screen, Optical trackpad has been embedded around the D-Pad to give users more choice to run the touch screen without entering your fingers to the screen, while the Metal Stylus Pen on the top right position can be pulled outside as another alternative to operate the touch screen.
The Other Physical Keys
The physical keys of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 have been placed perfectly on each side of the phone, providing much easier navigation to the users. For example, on the left side, the mini USB charging port can be found along with the single speaker, while the volume rocker and the camera buttons are injected on the right side. And the last but not least, on top of device, besides the power button, the 3.5 mm headphone jack is also provided to you if you want to use standard earphone.
Phone Specification
All the great features have been injected to this phone, from: 3G, WiFi, full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, optical trackpad, 3.2 MP camera, GPS, and many more (see the detail specifications for more information).
Interface and Functionality
Based on this Xperia X1 Review, the screen of this phone becomes the most highlighted element from the overall design. With the support of TFT resistive touchscreen 65K colors screen quality, everything will be presented beautifully in the wide 480 x 800 pixels screen resolution.
Multimedia and Entertainment
With the support of MP3/AAC/MP4 player and 3.5 mm headphone jack, listening to music or watching videos can be another best source of entertainment from Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Moreover, if the internal memory your phone is running out of data capacity to insert more media files, you can head to the phone shop to get the microSD external memory.
Performance
Running applications or games on Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 should be convenient and pleasing to do, especially with the use of Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional in its operating system. The power of CPU 528 MHz ARM 11 processor (Qualcomm MSM7200 chipset) is also really helpful to enhance the whole performance of this phone, while the MIDP 2.0 version of java platform can be so handy to open applications across java platform that have been translated into the touch screen platform.
Case Covers
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is sold in 2 different case covers, Solid Black and Steel Silver, but they both look shinny with the metal design.
Battery Life
Released October, 2008, it is stated on reliable source that Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 battery can last up to 833 hours in stand-by mode and up to 10 hours in talk time mode, giving the users a great quality of battery life.
Conclusion
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 can be a perfect choice for people with a professional career or corporate staff. The whole design of this phone looks really classy, fancy and expensive. This phone definitely can be a great attention grabber if the owner shows it off to the public.
If you are planning to get this phone, at Amazon, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is currently sold at the low price around $99,99.
