In the market of mobile phone, LG is definitely not a new player anymore in this game. As a matter of fact, this company has been “playing” in the cell phone market for quite long time. However, when it comes to the market share, then LG doesn't have much to say in this matter because most of LG smartphones didn’t get warm welcome in the market. But the recent efforts of LG in delivering touch screen smartphones must still be appreciated because its products will definitely evolve in the future. So hopefully, with this “Twilight” official smartphone called LG GD510 Twilight, LG could make a distraction and gain massive exposure, thanks to the popularity of Twilight movie.
As many of you know (or not), Twilight has been tremendously popular in theater these days that basically tells you the story about love triangle between 1 vampire, 1 pretty lady and 1 werewolf. This book-adapted movie has been around for quite some time and has become a blockbuster movie in box office and also a must-watch movie for girl teenagers. I’m actually not a big fan of this movie since I’m more into Die Hard series or any tough guy movies.
With the release of many touch screen phones in the market, LG proves itself that it could still be a future threat for competitors by rolling out LG GD510 Twilight, a touch screen phone that doesn’t work really impressive in term of performance and user interface.
Design
The first thing that makes this phone stand out among the crowd is maybe its design. LG GD510 Twilight looks running a square design that is equipped with only 1 button on the front side. Interestingly, instead of placing it on the center bottom position, the vendor decides to place that 1 physical button on the right corner position, which gives a good impression on the front side and it looks pretty unique, compared to other competitors. I honestly like how LG decides to produce this phone in square shape, with a small rounded on each corner. It looks elegant and classy.
Interface and Functionality
Okay, now it’s time for the real deal. In the real implementation, this phone doesn’t have such a pleasing performance. Opening the main menu, operating the homescreen, sliding the screen are little bit laggy.
The fact that this phone is only injected with proprietary OS, not Android is also not a great news if you intend to use this phone in the long haul. Well that’s because having a touch screen phone but doesn’t have Android OS is like having a great looking car with mediocre engine, which is not cool, since it will automatically limit the access of available apps for this phone.
The user interface of LG GD510 Twilight is also not a great thing to know. Although this phone has a decent screen display, thanks to its TFT resistive touchscreen, but late response always occurs on the screen. It takes a bit moment for the screen to response to your given task, such as: sliding, tapping or moving. However, the 3.0 inch screen of this phone still gets a good treatment from the manufacturer. With the injection of 256K color display and 240 x 400 pixels, the screen still looks pleasing to see.
Features
LG GD510 Twilight comes with 42MB internal memory on board, with the support of microSD card for up to 16GB capacity. This phone has also been equipped with Bluetooth, 3.15MP camera, Stereo FM radio, Java MIDP 2.1, social media integration, and many other stuff. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have WiFi, 3G and also GPS, which are pretty basic for touch screen phones. So it’s kind of hard to say this phone as a smartphone if it doesn’t have those 3 basic elements.
Conclusion
So in conclusion, LG GD510 Twilight is rolled out to the market solely as the complement for many Twilight fans out there who really love this vampire movie because this phone will definitely be filled with many awesome Twilight contents in it (e.g,. wallpapers, videos, photos, official soundtrack, etc). Other than that, it’s pretty useless in realities. Compared to LG Optimus ME P350 in our past review, then this Twilight phone doesn’t stand a chance to beat that small pocket phone in all aspect.
LG GD510 Twilight is also sold in other different case covers, such as: Silver, Black, PoP, Pink, Purple, Wine and White, so pick your favorite color, and you're good to go.
