LG GW300 Pink, When Experimenting Blackberry Design is Not a Good Idea

Nowadays, it’s getting harder and tougher for cell phones outside touch screen model to grasp and gain market share in this competitive industry. The reason is so obvious and simple.

It’s because now or currently, people are distracted and more interested with touch screen phones more than anything else. That’s why Research in Motion, the maker of Blackberry, has lost market share so significantly because this vendor is not ready with fast changes, especially when it comes to cell phone trend. Weirdly, many other vendors outside RIM also tried or “experimented” to port Blackberry QWERTY concept design on their creations, but many of them failed to sound their voices in the market. LG GW300 Pink is one of those replicates

.

The Cons

Running in the same core concept design of Blackberry phones, LG GW300 Pink doesn’t work impressively since the fact that this phone has so many let downs to offer, especially in the specifications. For instance, this phone doesn’t support WiFi connection. And the worst thing, LG GW300 Pink doesn’t even have 3G network.

The other let downs that look prominent on this phone are the absences of LED flash, auto-focus, office document viewer, Twitter integration and the quality of its video recording is only QCIF, which is mediocre and not really good.

Design

However, although this phone brings so many let downs for many of its tech savvy users, this phone could make a great texting cell phone, thanks to its QWERTY keyboard on the front side. It’s also great to see that the buttons of this phone have been designed by the vendor in prominent surface, which makes it pleasing and comfortable to press in the daily basis.

Overall design of LG GW300 Pink looks pleasing, especially with the pink or red trimming that wraps up the entire side of this phone. On the other hand, the back cover of this phone looks quite casual and not too special, even though there is 2MP camera that has been embedded on the back (without LED flash and auto-focus).

Applications

Unfortunately, the vendor doesn’t provide the integration of Twitter application to this phone, because nowadays, people are more interested to use Twitter app than Facebook apps (although Facebook is still widely popular these days). I mean, most people tweet updates every single day, basically Twitter app is like and should be a basic element of nowadays’ smartphones. Instead, you are only given with Facebook application on this phone.

Screen

The only one good thing that can be found on this phone is the screen aspect. Its 2.5 inch screen still looks pretty good with the supports of TFT 256K color display and 320 by 240 pixel resolution.

Multimedia and Entertainment

For multimedia aspect, the users of this phone will not be really happy because this phone is so halfhearted when offering features to them. For instance, you only got FM Radio without the stereo and only 15MB internal storage. Luckily, the microSD support for up to 16GB capacity with hotswap is already equipped on this phone. Other worth mentioning features are 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth, USB and Java MIDP 2.0 platform.

Conclusion

As for conclusion, after reading all the words on this page I bet you are less and less interested to buy LG GW300 Pink for the reason that it has so many weaknesses. However, if in the first place, you are only looking for a texting cell phone ala Blackberry, then LG GW300 Pink could be pretty good choice, but only at the low price range because it doesn’t have 3G network, WiFi, HSDPA, Twitter integration, LED flash and autofocus on camera.
