That became the solid concrete fence that kept holding back Apple from selling its most popular tablet on this planet. In 2009, Apple actually had bought the rights for the name “iPad” from Proview in order to get permission to sell its tablet in China. But sadly for Apple, this rotten fruit company had bought the legal rights to the wrong part of Proview, the subsidiary one, that had been claimed by Proview didn’t legally own the name of “iPad” in China.
Actually, this case had been taken care by the legal court in China, which then suggested that Apple and Proview should sit together to make a new agreement regarding the use of iPad trademark for both companies in China.
Even though the court hasn’t make any final decision to control the use of trademark iPad for both Apple and Proview in China, while Apple and Proview are also still in discussion for an agreement, apparently, one Chinese Government Official in China thinks that Proview is the one who has the legal rights for the trademark iPad in China.
According to Reuters, a deputy director for the State Administration of Industry and Commerce in China says that: “According to the… provisions of the China Trademark Law, currently, Shenzhen Proview is the legal registrant of the iPad trademark”.This would obviously make it even harder for Apple to grasp the legal rights for iPad in China, hence, would prevent Apple from selling iPad in China, of course if Apple uses the name “iPad” on its tablet.
Maybe Proview is already aware, it’s even obvious for us to see that if Apple finally got the trademark for iPad, then Apple would absolutely make a tremendous amount of sales for its newest iPad in China, considering that China has been well known as one of the most populated countries on this planet. So maybe the boardroom of Proview comes with a new idea, “Let’s squeeze Apple’s money in the bank!”, and they all agree with that.
So, good luck Apple!
