After Kindle Fire 2, Amazon Plans to Make its Own Smartphone. Bloomberg Has Confirmed it

shoSlowly but steady, Amazon with its App Store has successfully built such a strong and huge ecosystem that contains many users of Kindle Fire buying Android apps and contents as well (like books, movies, music and many more) for their beloved 7-inch tablet every single day. So what is Amazon’s next ambition? Well, the news just arrived and it might come so surprising for many people because apparently,

Amazon is now in the preparation to make its own smartphone

. What? Is that true?

Yes, that is not-so-expected by many people because Amazon is well known as an online retailer that its main job is to sell tangible products and also contents that are made by people or companies. However, this news about

Amazon making its own smartphone may otherwise become not surprising since we all know that Amazon has been so popular with its home-made tablet

, Kindle Fire and the tablet itself has been doing really great in tablet market especially in the last quarter of last year that saw Amazon sell 5 million units of Kindle Fire (while the first quarter of 2012, Amazon only managed to sell 700.000 units).

After Kindle Fire 2, Amazon Plans to Make its Own Smartphone. Bloomberg Has Confirmed itBack to the topic, the speculation about Amazon building its own smartphone (will likely use Android OS, just like the Kindle Fire) will not just a floating rumor as one reliable and trusted source, Bloomberg, has confirmed regarding this issue. According to Bloomberg, it’s true that Amazon has a plan in mind to produce its own smartphone. And this device is said will be manufactured by Foxconn.

Interestingly, in order to avoid the hell circle of “patent lawsuits” that is heavily guarded by Apple, Amazon has hired Matt Gordon (who is this guy?), a patent acquisition expert that used to work for the patent troll holding company Intellectual Venture. In this matter, Amazon is said has ordered Matt Gordon to acquire mobile patents as much as necessary in order to give future protection when Amazon finally releases its own phone in smartphone market.

After Kindle Fire 2, Amazon Plans to Make its Own Smartphone. Bloomberg Has Confirmed itWith the increasing popularity of Amazon App Store, Kindle Fire and also, Amazon already has its own gigantic and popular online store (read: Amazon.com) to sell additional contents for the Kindle Fire and the possibly new smartphone, then Amazon is considered ready to enter to the cell phone market.

The reason is simple, Kindle Fire, a home-made Android tablet from Amazon, has already been seen as a good and reliable Android tablet (even for gaming), no one argues about that. So if Amazon indeed will release its own smartphone, then this device will likely use the same concept that Amazon uses when making Kindle Fire, from the hardware, software and even user interface.

However, the mobile functionality aspect of Amazon’s new smartphone will still need to be proved its reliability by Amazon because Amazon is obviously not a cell phone company and it also doesn’t have any experience in making mobile phones.

On the other hand, after selling many cell phones on its Amazon website for many years, then it definitely shows that Amazon has learned a lot and gained experiences in cell phone industry, which in turn, can be spilled when making its own smartphone device.

So we should wait and see whether this rumor is bound to come to realization or not. Only time will tell.
